If you’re dreaming of a winter session in Idaho, Bogus Basin is one of the most beautiful locations near Boise for snow portraits.

We drove up the mountain hoping to find a fresh patch of white snow — and thankfully, Bogus delivered. The mountains were quiet, the light was soft, and the snow created the dreamiest backdrop for this portrait session.

Summer and Marcy chose the most stunning blue and purple gowns, and the colors popped beautifully against the crisp winter landscape. I always recommend bold or jewel tones for snow sessions because they photograph so beautifully against the clean white background.

Winter in Idaho has a way of simplifying everything. The snow reflects light in the most flattering way, and the mountain views at Bogus Basin make every image feel timeless and elevated.

Why Bogus Basin Is Perfect for Winter Family Photos

Located just outside of Boise, Bogus Basin offers:

  • Snow-covered trees

  • Open mountain views

  • Soft, diffused winter light

  • A quiet setting away from busy parks

It’s one of my favorite spots for winter family sessions, sibling portraits, and milestone photography in the Treasure Valley.

If you’re considering family photos in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Caldwell, or anywhere in the surrounding area, a winter session at Bogus Basin is such a beautiful option. A little adventure, a little mountain air, and portraits you’ll treasure for years.
